Hi there, it’s Natalia (aka sojunights) and I am here to start a fun new segment i want to call Fanfic Fridays, or Soju’s Wattpad FicPicks, a series where I’ll be showcasing some of my most enjoyed fanfiction that I find on the free website Wattpad.
This week we begin with a cute little mostly Social Media AU fic called “Scientific Terms”
Now those who know me know that I am not one who could be considered Army. I like BTS well enough and all, I’m just not a hard stan. They seem like nice boys if you ask me. However if you ask fanfiction writers they’re the only kpop act to ever exist it sometimes seems like, so there’s a wealth of BTS themed fanfiction of all types out there.
This particular one is boys love themed, so the writer has coupled up some of the members- a very common activity in fan fiction. In this particular tale Jimin accidentally texts the wrong number, and begins a friendship up with a pansexual smart guy named Yoongi, the two of them eventually falling for each other over text, despite Jimin being unsure of his own sexuality.
While this is a very common trope in fanfiction, and in boys love as well, there was something strangely endearing about this fic, and I almost can’t tell you what it is. The characters were cute, they fit with the public personas that the members of BTS have put out in the world, and while not the best written story I’ve ever read it was pretty well written for fanfiction.
I’ve only recently become a fan of social media AU’s, and mostly on twitter, so this was my first one that I’ve read on wattpad, and, to assure you night mode readers, they typed out the text, it’s not just images of faked messages.
