This week we watched the first two episodes of the Netflix series, Itaewon Class, starring Park Seo Joon and decided to talk about the episodes, and about the actor himself.

Guys, you can disagree with what that girl from first episodes are doing, but she makes perfect sense. Disagreeing and not understanding, because you yourself would never do, what she did doesn’t mean it’s not perfectly in her capability. She someone, who admitted to Park Sae Ro Yi’s face that she will never live like him or his father, because she is not brave enough. So, she is an established coward, that will never compromise her position and well-being for someone else. Just because she grew up in catholic household (is she?) doesn’t mean, thats she is religious or agree with religion. She was always afraid of what Jang family could do to her, so when she was asked nicely to shut up, she did. Like she always did, when she saw “injustice”. She took a money to stay out of trouble, that’s why she went to cry to Park Sae Ro Yi. He then encouraged her to stick to her choices. or his father and she knows how to act nice and obedient, when it benefits her. She is also an opportunist and tries to get an easy and less harmful way out of all situations. Yes, she was close with Park Sae Ro Yi’s dad, but he also died now and she has to live. And at this point 3 years passed, she is ready to fully live her life. It was easier to her to follow and work in Jangga as they the ones, who paid all her expenses. They could ask her to give it all back any minute. And Oh Soo Ah knows, how to put a face (like she tried to put a face first for Park Sae Ro Yi because of his dad), stay silent and be obedient. She is coward, social climber and opportunist, just because she was nice to Park Sae Ro Yi’s dad and wasn’t afraid of him, doesn’t mean, she can’t be all that things. They didn’t need to show some “in your face moments” in first 30-40 minutes, because that 2 first episodes fully about her making choices, just as there were about how Park Sae Ro Yi made his choices. She went easy way, he went hard way. There is no such thing as “easy way” though, so I think it will all comeback to bite her at the end. 3rd episode ends with Park Sae Ro Yi indirectly addressing (or foreshadowing) it.
As for Itaewon part, he was in prison for 3 years and saw colorful, free and very happy crowd of people just the way it was described in the letter. Does a person need something more to like in that atmosphere and place after spending 3 years in correctional facility and holding dear only one peace of paper, that connected him to the outside world and one particular place? He was already excited about Itaewon even before seeing it. And honestly, why you even need more introduction to neighborhood, that’s already main location for 16 episode of drama…
